There’s huge momentum for progressives and Democrats going into the all-important Texas primary.
A record number of Democrats have cast early ballots in Texas — more than at this point in a presidential election year. And, crucially, more Democrats have voted in Texas so far than Republicans. That’s a new record too.
Unfortunately, there are some in DC who don’t want these progressive Democrats to win. The DCCC in particular wants progressives to lose — because if progressives win on Tuesday, they’ll prove once again that the DCCC’s centrist, corporate-friendly model doesn’t work. More importantly, they’ll prove that a progressive message targeted at young people, people of color, and working families is how you win in 2018.
DFA members are working hard to mobilize the vote for our progressive slate in Texas — Laura Moser, Veronica Escobar, Derrick Crowe, and Gina Ortiz Jones. These candidates for Congress are standing up to corporate power and voters are responding strongly to their message. But the election is here and we need your help to finish strong.
Chip in $3 or more to power DFA’s urgent work to help progressive Democrats take the House in 2018 by winning in states like Texas — and in several critical primaries coming up soon that will define the future of the Democratic Party.
These early voting numbers are proving what many people have known for a long time: Texas isn’t a red state. It’s a swing state with a lot of people who don’t regularly vote.
And why would they? Too often, Democrats have spent their time chasing conservative-leaning voters, or simply gave up on Texas entirely. But Texas is different than you might expect.
Texas has a huge, young, diverse population that cannot stand Donald Trump and his Republican Party. In fact, Trump only won 52% of the vote in Texas in 2016. As DFA’s slate of progressive candidates are showing, there are a lot of voters in Texas hungry to hear a message of inclusive populism.
Polls show the same trends taking place across the country right now. If we can help progressives win, it will be a huge boost to other progressive candidates across America.
At DFA, we strongly believe that primaries matter — and will be pivotal to taking back the House and defining the future of the Democratic Party. Chip in $3 or more now to help DFA make that future progressive.
Thank you for helping win this crucial election.
