We need more, not fewer, trees
Regarding wilderness areas: Now that we are quickly progressing into climate change, I find it very foolish to talk about cutting down any trees since they are the only protector we have against rising temperatures.
Instead of cutting trees, we should be discussing where else we can add wilderness areas and what other tree areas can be improved. I lived in California all those years that the Western loggers were cutting down the redwood trees for redwood fences. What a disgraceful waste. Let us learn a lesson from the Western states that had such beautiful forests of redwoods that now only remain in small patches. The loggers have finished cutting all that was available out West. Now they are moving here to destroy all the trees and beauty that we and visitors so much enjoy.
This is big part of our economy.
Again, trees should not be cut down.
We need more trees planted to overcome the heat and fires that climate change will bring.
