Between the tax scam and Paul Ryan’s declaration of war on Medicare, we have our hands full. But even as we fight Donald Trump’s corporate takeover of our government, we need to recognize that this is a battle with many fronts.

Trump has nominated Alex Azar to replace Tom Price as secretary of the department Health and Human Services. Azar will come into government directly from Eli Lilly, one of the biggest pharmaceutical corporations, where he oversaw massive price hikes on lifesaving medication like insulin. If Alex Azar is confirmed, Big Pharma will be able to save its lobbying dollars. But I don’t think they’ll be passing the savings onto you…

Social Security Works is meeting with members of the Senate Finance Committee ahead of a confirmation hearing next week. We need your signature to show that the American people won’t stand for Big Pharma running HHS—the part of the government that should be working for the people.

Add your name: Big Pharma should not run the department of Health and Human Services!

Alex Azar has repeatedly opposed measures to restrain drug company profiteering and limit improper marketing, and favors weaker drug safety approval standards. He has spent nearly a decade in the pharmaceutical industry, and has said that drug prices are not high enough. Americans already pay the highest prices for prescription drugs in the world. We need a Secretary of HHS who will take on the drug companies, not pad their pockets!

Stand with Social Security Works and demand the U.S. Senate reject any nominee for HHS who has direct ties to the pharmaceutical and health insurance industries.

It’s time to stop the corporate takeover of America.

Thank you,

Michael Phelan
