Sen. Elizabeth Warren is under attack for her willingness to fight hard against destroying Dodd-Frank and gutting regulations on big Wall Street banks.
Sen. Warren hasn’t been shy about calling out members of her own party for backing the bill that could set up yet another bailout of the big banks. Sixteen Democrats voted to move that bill forward — an appalling vote that puts working families and local businesses at risk.
Now some of those Democrats are upset at being exposed. A few of them went to Politico to vent their frustrations in an attempt to make Warren look bad — and undermine her standing among Democratic voters.
Elizabeth Warren is demonstrating exactly the kind of strong leadership against Wall Street we expected when she was elected to the Senate in 2012. Now Warren is up for re-election in November — and you can bet the big banks want her gone.
This is an urgent moment: Chip in $3 now to show the entire Democratic Party that you stand with Sen. Elizabeth Warren — and against Wall Street.
Ten years ago this week, Bear Stearns collapsed — a major event that helped precipitate the 2008 financial crisis and the Great Recession.
One of the few good things to come out of that crisis was the Dodd-Frank bill, which created new rules designed to rein in Wall Street and prevent another financial collapse.
That’s why Sen. Warren is leading the fight against the Bank Lobbyist Act, a bill that would destroy the Dodd-Frank rules. It would massively deregulate the majority of big banks and make it easier for banks to use discriminatory and fraudulent practices.
In 2012, progressives recruited and helped elect Elizabeth Warren to the Senate for moments just like this. We needed a leader to fight Wall Street and the big banks — and that’s exactly what Sen. Warren is doing. She’s coming under fire for it, and that’s no surprise. But it’s a stark reminder that we need to show the entire Democratic Party that we stand with Elizabeth Warren in this crucial moment.
Chip in $3 or more right now to help Elizabeth Warren show Democrats how to fight back against the big banks — and win.
Thank you for standing with Elizabeth Warren and against Wall Street.
