This tragedy was the worst targeted attack against LGBT people in our country’s history. Today, we remember the 49 lives we lost that night in 2016.
June 12th will always weigh heavy on our hearts because it is a grim reminder of how much further our country needs to progress.
Every day, lives are lost due to senseless gun violence that is fueled by hate. As we celebrate diversity during Pride Month, we cannot overlook how the LGBT community is targeted on a daily basis simply because of who they are.
We can make meaningful change happen to protect our LGBT friends — and our entire country — from violence like this.
As we remember the lives we have lost, I urge you to take a moment to think about what actions we can take to prevent another tragedy like this from happening.
Together we can be allies to the LGBT community and prevent senseless acts of gun violence.
