Michael Phelan Social Security Works
Over the last 40 years, Social Security Works co-founder Nancy Altman has become the definitive expert on protecting and expanding Social Security.
Recently, Nancy was honored with the 2018 Robert M. Ball Award―named after the Social Security Administration’s longest-serving commissioner―conferred annually “to individuals whose recent work has made a significant impact on the U.S. social insurance system.” And Sen. Bernie Sanders gave a speech honoring all of the great work Nancy and Social Security Works have done. Watch Bernie’s speech and then make a $27 donation to honor SSW co-founder Nancy Altman! Bernie told the audience at the National Press Club:
Senator Sanders and Nancy have been working together for years to defend Social Security against repeated attempts to cut and undermine the program. And in recent years we’ve worked together to change the conversation toward expanding benefits for millions of Americans. At a time like this, when our earned benefits are under constant threat, it is important to recognize how far we’ve come. We built our Social Security system over nearly 83 years, and we’re going to fight to ensure that it remains strong. I’m honored to fight alongside Nancy Altman, Bernie Sanders, and all of you, defending our earned benefits against the onslaught of attacks by Wall Street, the White House and Congress. Thank you, Michael Phelan |
