The fight over the Supreme Court is about to get real.
On September 4, the Senate Judiciary Committee will meet and question Trump’s extremist, right-wing Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. Some senators are treating this like it is an important fact-finding mission. But the thing is, we already know more than enough to make a judgement about Kavanaugh — just look at his record.
It is indisputable that, if confirmed, Kavanaugh would rule against reproductive freedom, health care, the environment, voting rights, civil rights, workers’ rights, LGBTQ rights, and immigrant rights for generations.
Kavanaugh must be stopped, and grassroots mobilization is going to be key to making that happen. That’s why DFA is joining with MoveOn, NARAL and more than 50 other progressive organizations to build Unite for Justice rallies and events across the country on Sunday, August 26.
Our path to victory in this fight is super clear. We need all Democrats and Independents plus only ONE Republican to vote against Kavanaugh. It’s a tall order, but it is absolutely doable if we fight back in every single district — like we did during the battle over repealing Obamacare.
A CNN poll released late last week showed that Kavanaugh has the lowest level of public support of any Supreme Court nominee going back decades. The only nominee who was less popular was Robert Bork, way back in 1987 — and his nomination was successfully killed due to public outrage!
The far right is already dumping money into this nomination fight. Groups like the Judicial Crisis Network have announced they will spend $1.4 million on TV ads in support of Kavanaugh. The only way we can defeat them is by building a huge, vocal, and visible opposition who will hit the streets and take over town halls until this nomination is stopped.
Thanks for standing up to Donald Trump at this critical moment.
