I am excited to announce I will be running for election to the office of Buncombe County Register of Deeds in 2012. I ask for your support and invite you to attend my Kickoff Event on January 17.
As the current Register of Deeds, I have improved quality of service,
stewardship, and sustainability. I am proud of these accomplishments:
By accepting credit and debit cards, implement
ing genealogy software, and offering online marriage licenses, we provide faster and easier service. We also now provide Spanish translation services in person, over the phone, and online.
By reducing my own salary, implementing new technology, and renegotiating vendor contracts, we have been able to cut our annual budget by over $238,500.
In an effort to become the most sustainable Register of Deeds office in the state, we have implemented a recycling program and strive daily to drastically reduce the amount of paper we use. With the support of Secretary of State Elaine Marshall, we implemented e-Recording software, which allows users to record documents securely, without making a trip to our office.
Please Attend Our Kickoff Event
We are running a grassroots, volunteer-based campaign, and that is why we need you. I would be honored to see you at our Campaign Kickoff & Fundraiser, which Adelaide Key and Maggie Smith have graciously offered to host at their home on January 17. I am proud to serve the people of Buncombe County as our Register of Deeds, and I would be honored to continue this service.
