Join Us Sunday 2/9 for
This Month’s Canvass!
In light of the past week’s events, the need to increase turnout among sporadic voters is crucial. Door-to-door canvassing is one of the most effective ways to accomplish this. So join us for this month’s canvass on Sunday February 9, 2-5pm at the Archetype Brewing Tap Lounge & Venue– we’ll have a whole separate room there, and it’ll be a fun place to hang out and eat and drink afterward if people want to. Please plan to arrive by 1:45. We’ll start promptly at 2 pm with a short training session and start canvassing in pairs at 2:30. Help us turn things around in 2020!
Never canvassed before? New to non-partisan canvassing? No problem! We’ll provide training, materials, and everything you need – including a buddy! No prior experience necessary. Click here to register. As always, childcare is available for parents while you canvass. Just note ages of kids when you register.
Correction: We incorrectly stated the day in last week’s email. This month’s canvass really is on SUNDAY, February 9th. We apologize for the confusion! Next month’s canvass will be on Saturday March 7.
Community Conversations is a non-partisan way of talking with friends and acquaintances about voting (More Info: 2020 Voter Engagement Campaign) Over 30 volunteers came to the initial training and kickoff at the North Asheville Library last month and got started with the easy-to-use Empower app. Please join us for the next monthly Community Conversations on February 18 to learn more. We’re also available to bring Community Conversations training to your group or organization, so if you’re interested, please get in touch!
A Note from the Indivisible AVL Newsletter Team
You may have noticed a delay in this week’s newsletter. That’s because we exceeded the free limit of mailings on Mail Chimp and had to wait for a reset. Our subscriber list is growing and will continue to do so as we expand our reach during this busy year, with our 2020 Voter Engagement Campaign. We anticipate having to become paid subscribers very soon. This is a good thing – but we need your help! Please click here to help support our 2020 Campaign and defray the cost of delivering important information to you every week. Even a small donation makes a big difference and helps support our work. Thank you!
Part 1. Do not depend on the hope of results. You may have to face the fact that your work will be apparently worthless and even achieve no result at all, if not perhaps results opposite to what you expect. – Thomas Merton
Part 2. As you get used to this idea, you start more and more to concentrate not on the results, but on the value, the rightness, the truth of the work itself. You gradually struggle less and less for an idea and more and more for specific people. In the end, it is the reality of personal relationship that saves everything.- Thomas Merton
