|DICK, ever wake up in the morning, grab your coffee, catch up on the news and just say “what the f*ck is happening?” This was one of those weeks. |
But underneath all the bizarre news about Trump wanting to buy Greenland and referring to himself as the “chosen one” are some serious implications of his policy ideas.
On Monday Planned Parenthood pulled out of federally-funded program, Title X, because of a new Trump gag rule that prohibited discussing abortion options. This meant millions of low-income Americans were losing access to vital medical services. The Daily Kos community was quick to respond and has already raised close to $30,000 for Planned Parenthood this week. Trump says that he supports background checks, then says that he doesn’t, then says he does then says that he talks to the NRA regularly…. And since the mass shootings in El Paso and Dayton, authorities have prevented at least 7 mass shootings, primarily orchestrated by white supremists. Meanwhile, the Daily Kos community has demanded real action — over 325,000 people have signed a gun control petition since the shootings in El Paso and Dayton. This week there were dire stories of our changing climate — one about the warming waters in Alaska killing off salmon in record numbers and the other story of the Amazon rainforest literally on fire. This issue is so important that nearly 500,000 people signed a petition asking the DNC to hold a debate on climate change. On Wednesday, the Trump administration terminated a decades-old court settlement that protects vulnerable migrant children who are in U.S. custody. Allowing ICE to detain children indefinitely. Keeping migrant families safe has been a priority of the Daily Kos community — having raised over $500,000 to help organizations that support and aid immigrants.
Everyday, the Daily Kos staff has to navigate the onslaught of absurdity that comes out of Trump’s White House, and dig underneath it all to find what really matters. We provide the tools to fight back immediately.
To keep working 24 hours a day, seven days a week — we need your help. We need to raise $108,024 by the end of the month. Will you give $5 to help us keep fighting?
Thank you for all you d
