General Assembly to change Buncombe County Commission
There’s a bill pending in Raleigh that would force Buncombe County to move from a 5-member County Commission to 7-members, with 2 commissioners elected from each State House district, and an at-large Chair. Whether you like that idea or not, we would become the only County in the state whose Commission make-up and election was dictated by Raleigh. Representatives Susan Fisher and Patsy Keever are trying to insert an amendment that would let Buncombe County voters decide, via referendum, whether to accept the new plan. Let legislators know how you feel about this matter.
